Island Trees Board of Education

The next regular meeting of the Island Trees Board of Education will be held on Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Stephen E. Karopczyc administration building, 74 Farmedge Rd. in Levittown.  

 

U.S. Presidents and First Ladies

Mini-College Fair

On Sept. 17, Division Avenue High School will have representatives from several state and local universities and colleges come to the school, from 8:15-9:45 a.m., for a mini-college fair. 

 

Hempstead Board of Appeals

The next meeting of the Hempstead Town Board of Appeals will be held at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., on Sept. 17, at Hempstead Town Hall, 1 Washington St., Hempstead.

 

Colin Quinn At Governor’s

On Sept. 17, come to Governor’s Comedy Club, 90 Division Ave. in Levittown, at 8 p.m., when actor/comedian Colin Quinn will take the stage for this special stand-up event. Tickets range from $12-$42. Admission 18 and over. Visit Govs.com for more information and tickets.

All-Star Comedy Show

On Sept. 18, join Governor’s Comedy Club, 90 Division Ave. in Levittown, as they present some of the finest comics from around Long Island and New York City. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets range from $14-$44. Admission 18 and over. Visit Govs.com for more information and tickets. 

Friday, Sept. 19

The Irrepressible Paul Lynde

On Sept. 19, join Levittown native Cathy Rudolph at the Levittown Historical Museum, 150 Abbey Lane, at 7 p.m., when she will be discussing her friendship with beloved actor/comedian Paul Lynde and signing copies of her memoir Paul Lynde: A Biography. American Legion Meeting

The next meeting of the American Legion Post #1711 of Levittown will be held on Friday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m., inside Legion Headquarters at 3123 N. Jerusalem Rd.   

 

“Go Home Drill” 

On Sept. 19, the Island Trees School District will be sending children home 15-minutes early as part of a safety drill.

 

Island Trees Library Board of Trustees

The next meeting of the Island Trees Public Library Board of Trustees will be held at the library on Spet. 19, from 7:30-9 p.m. 

Saturday, Sept. 20

Island Trees Vendor Fair

On Sept. 20, the Island Trees PTSA will be holding its annual vendor fair at the Island Trees Memorial Middle School, 45 Wantagh Ave. in Levittown, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Interested vendors can contact itpattip@aol.com for more details.

 

Division Avenue Homecoming

On Sept. 20, join the Division Avenue High School Blue Dragons as they celebrate homecoming with a parade at 11 a.m., followed by the annual homecoming game at 1:30 p.m. at the football field. 

Sunday, Sept. 21

Blessing of the Animals

On Sept. 21, join the Good Shepheard Lutheran Church, at 3434 Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown, at 12:30 p.m., for its blessing of the animals event. Working with local shelters, the event will also include an adoption drive to hopefully try to help these critters a home. 

 

State Marching Band Competition

On Sept. 21, the Division Avenue High School marching band will compete, at noon, against other local schools during the New York State Field Band Conference competition at Copiague High School.

 

Rally Day

On Sept. 21, celebrate National Back to Church day with a mini carnival on the front lawn of the First Presbyterian Church, 474 Wantagh Ave. in Levittown, from noon-3 p.m. 

The event will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony for the church’s new state-of-the-art sports gym at 1 p.m. with a basketball knockout contest at 2 p.m. There will also be water balloons, relay races, face painting, a dance competition, refreshments, and more. Monday, Sept. 22

Author Book Signing

On Sept. 22, join the members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9592 of Levittown, 55 Hickory Lane, at 7 p.m., when author Jerome Huyler will be available to sign copies of his book, Everything You Have: The Case Against Welfare. 

Tuesday, Sept. 23

Northside PTA

The next meeting of the Northside Elementary School PTA will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 23. 

 

School To Business

On Sept. 23, the Island Trees school district will kick-off its business partnership program with a forum for business professionals, parents, teachers and political leaders, from 7:45-10 a.m., in the High School’s Little Theatre. Wednesday, Sept. 24

Girls Night Out

On Sept. 24, join the ladies of the First Presbyterian Church of Levittown at 6 p.m., for an evening of food and friendship at Miyako Japanese Restaurant, 550 S. Broadway in Hicksville.

Ongoing Events: 

Clothing Drive

Beginning Sept. 20 and extending through Oct. 26, the First Presbyterian Church, 474 Wantagh Ave. in Levittown, is collecting clothing and accessories for the united Veterans Beacon House. Donations of men, women, children and infants clothing, shoes and accessories are desperately needed.
