The community is invited to join the Jericho Jewish Center, 430 North Broadway, for the recitation of the Selichot prayer — the penitential prayers recited on the Saturday night before the start of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. This year, Selichot will be observed on Sept. 20 at 11 p.m. with Rabbi Benjamin Herman officiating at the services and Cantor Barry Black leading prayers. Services will be preceded by the movie, The Quarrel, at 9 p.m. A powerful, cinematically effective, intellectually exciting portrayal of the conflict within the modern soul between tradition and change. There will be refreshments served. For more information, call the Temple at 516-938-2540.
