A Commitment To Community Service

In observance of Patriot Day, Lee Road Elementary School students pledged to engage in community service during the 2014-15 school year.

Patriot Day is an annual observance on Sept. 11 to remember those who were injured or killed during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.

These Levittown students were not yet born, but the Eileen Vogel’s fifth-grade class commemorated the historic event by studying the bombing of the World Trade Center Towers and the subsequent building of the Freedom Tower, thus acquiring a better understanding of Patriot Day. The students also wrote community service pledges on hearts decorated like the American flag and posted their commitments to help others on the bulletin board.
