Prepare Your Home For Winter
The East Norwich Civic Association will be hosting an informational session about making your home more comfortable, affordable and environmentally friendly on Thursday, Oct. 23, 8 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church, one block south of 25A on Route 106 at Vernon Street. Organizers and volunteers from the Long Island Progressive Coalitions non-profit energy efficiency program, PowerUp Communities, will be presenting about how you can save money your energy bills by reducing cold rooms and drafts in your home.

A Night at the Mansion: Sleepover
Join the folks at Coe Hall for an evening of fun and mystery. Enjoy an ice cream bar, flashlight tour, late night movie and then it’s lights out for a sleepover at Coe Hall. Sagamore Hill National Historic Site presents a Fall Foliage Walk on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. Join the park’s volunteer naturalist on an exploration of Sagamore Hill fields and woodland trails during the peak of fall colors. Property Tax Exemptions Workshop
From 1 to 3 p.m. at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, there will be a 2014 Department of Assessment Property Tax Exemptions Workshop, sponsored by Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano. You can help speed up the processing of your application by making and bringing two copies of any required supporting documentation to the workshop. Long Island Ghost Stories with the Paranormal Adventurers
Included in this spooky 90 minute multimedia presentation at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library are tales based on local folklore, including stories about the grave of Hatchet Mary, the witch of Sweet Hollow Road, the headless horseman of Raynham Hall in Oyster Bay, the peeking ghosts at the windows of Teddy Roosevelt’s former home in Glen Head, Tony the ghost of the West Hempstead Railroad tracks, the ghoul of Potter’s Field Cemetery in Yaphank, and much, much more.
