With the fall sports season upon us, the department of recreation and parks would like to remind all residents that pets are not allowed in any neighborhood parks, Community Park, or St. Paul’s fields. Non compliance with this rule will result in the issuance of appearance tickets.
Register For The Online Registration Option
Garden City’s Department of Recreation and Parks will offer the option of online registration with credit card payment beginning with its winter programs in early December.
In order for a family to use the online registration option, the family will first need to visit the recreation and parks office at 108 Rockaway Ave. to verify residency and their family information and receive their password. A list of instructions as to how to use the website will be included.
Residents may visit the office for family verification and password information beginning Oct. 31. The recreation and parks office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“Zumba Gold” Exercise -Fall Classes For The Active Senior Or Beginner
Fall Zumba Gold class will be held in on Monday afternoons at 2:15 p.m. and/or Tuesday evenings at 6:45 p.m. Each 45-0minute class, teaching the basics of Zumba exercise, is led by certified Zumba exercise instructor Felicia Lovaglio. This class is geared for seniors or the beginner adult. The 10-week session began Monday, Oct. 20. The price for the session is as follows:
Monday at 2:15 p.m. Seniors (65 or older)- $50 Others – $90
Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. Seniors (65 or older)- $50 Others – $90
To register for either of these classes, please fill out a form and return it to the recreation office at 108 Rockaway Ave.
Fall “Zumba” Exercise
The following Fall “Zumba” fitness classes for adults will be offered by the Department of Recreation and Parks began Monday, Oct. 20 according to the following schedule:
Monday mornings at 9 a.m.
Tuesday evenings at 7:45 p.m.
Saturday mornings at 9 a.m.
Classes are lead by Felicia Lovaglio, director of the recreation department’s Dance Conservatory and adjunct professor at Adelphi. Each class is 45 minutes long, runs for 10 weeks and costs $90.
Youth Yoga Classes
Registration has begun for yoga classes for children ages 6–18. Certified yoga instructor Connie McKnight has set up classes for all abilities and ages. All 55-minute classes will be held for 10 weeks at a cost of $85. The schedule is as follows:
Ages 6–9 Wednesdays at 4 p.m.
Ages 10–12 Wednesdays at 5 p.m.
Ages 13–18 Tuesdays at 4:45 p.m.
