Division Avenue High School seniors Krysten Garcia, Alexandra Sorbello and Karla Zabala and MacArthur High School senior Eduardo Sandoval were selected as 2014 National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) scholars.
NHRP was established in 1983 through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. This year, the program recognized only 5,000 outstanding Hispanic/Latino students nationwide. Qualifications for recognition were based on critical reading, mathematics and writing scores on the 2013 PSAT/NMSQT and a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, recipients of this honor must be Hispanic or Latino in origin.
The NHRP sends a list of all recognized students to subscribing colleges and universities that are particularly interested in academically outstanding seniors of Hispanic/Latino heritage.
