Support Haber

The state senate race for the 7th district has been heating up between Democrat Adam Haber and Republican Jack Martins. Throughout the race several issues have been misrepresented. One I’ve been watching closely is the environment. There is a clear divide between Mr. Haber and Mr. Martins. Adam Haber has publicly come out against hydraulic fracking, recognizing the potentially dangerous effects it could have upon residents here on Long Island. He seeks to give localities the power to determine if and where fracking would take place in their communities. Returning control to the people actually affected by the drilling is not only common sense, but also common decency, something Albany has been sorely lacking for too long.
But straying from simple rhetoric, let’s get back to the hard facts. Jack Martins has demonstrated a history of supporting big business at the expense of the individual taxpayer, from allowing coal companies to escape regulatory fines (S5418-A) to bailing out dirty coal plants (S-7767). He’s advocated for drilling in national wildlife preserves, expanding beyond the federally set boundaries, which could potentially wreck an already fragile ecosystem. Compare this with his democratic counterpart, Adam Haber.
Adam has been endorsed by both the Sierra Club and the Long Island Environmental Voters Forum, and has a plan for renewable energy for Long Island. The decision does not get much clearer than this folks. Adam Haber has earned my vote. Please join me November 4th in electing Adam Haber our next senator in the 7th District.
