Find Your New Favorite Eatery

Foodies, your time has come.

Nov. 2-9 marks Long Island Restaurant Week, the glorious 8-day period when you have an excuse to try out that new eatery (or eateries) that you’ve been eyeing longingly. Plus, it starts right after Halloween so it’ll give your taste buds a welcome reprieve from all that leftover candy.

The bi-annual event aims to garner publicity and new customers for local restaurants, and eateries all over Nassau County are eager to participate. And so are the customers. Customers can enjoy a 3-course prix-fixe meal for $27.95—and many restaurants report an increase in sales and reservations as a result of the promotion. According to the Long Island Restaurant Weekly website, some restaurants have seen sales increase as much as 200 percent, and others often decide to extend the promotion because of the positive effect it has on their business.

The promotion is a great way to sample delicious fare from eateries that may have flown under your radar, and expose your palate to new tastes. Most of the participating restaurants are locally owned (hooray for small business!) and have unique offerings on their menus. Whether you’re in the mood for Italian, Indian, French, Mexican, Seafood or American, there’s a dish for everyone. In Plainview, you can try French cuisine from Brasserie Cassis, or head over to Woodbury for some Italian at Andrea’s 25 Woodbury, Butera’s, or Volpe Ristorante.

Make it a date night or grab some friends and family for a night of culinary exploration. Who knows, you might just find your new favorite restaurant.

Most restaurants require reservations and some have specific hours when the prix-fixe menu is available. For more information including a complete list of participating restaurants, visit www.longislandrestaurantweek.com.
