A Farmingdale couple was bound at their hands and feet and had their home robbed Friday night after opening the door expecting trick-or-treaters but instead were confronted by masked thieves, Nassau County police said.
The horrifying Halloween home invasion only came to an end when the brave woman was able to free herself and then grabbed her 2-year-old son and ran to a neighbor’s house, where she dialed 911, police said.
The family’s ordeal began around 8:45 p.m. when someone rang the doorbell to their Beach Street home. The 34-year-old woman expected to see Halloween revelers, police said, but on the doorstep were three people wearing masks, two of whom were armed with handguns.
The intruders forced the door open and demanded the family to sit down. The woman’s husband refused, and was subsequently pistol whipped in the head multiple times, police said. The couple was then tied up with duct tape, police said.
Moments later, two more intruders entered to help the group ransack the home, police said.
The woman successfully removed the duct tape and fled with her son to the neighbor’s house and called 911, prompting the group to flee the house. Police were unable to say what was stolen.
The husband, who suffered head lacerations, was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

- Male black, 5-foot-9, 180 pounds with a werewolf mask, black clothes and armed with a handgun
- Female black, 5-foot-8 with a thin build, afro hair and wearing goggles.
- Male, possibly white, 5-foot-9, 200 pounds, armed with a handgun.
- Male black wearing a wool hat and a mask.
