A pedestrian was fatally struck by an SUV while walking across a road in Melville late Wednesday night.

Suffolk County police said a man was crossing Broadhollow Road when he was hit by a southbound Acura MDX south of Spagnoli Road at 11:15 p.m.

The victim, whose identity was not immediately available, was taken to North Shore University Hospital at Plainview, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver, 28-year-old Joseph Zucchero of North Massapequa, was not injured.

Second Squad detectives impounded the SUV, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about the crash to call them at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
