Patty Santella of Syosset heads for the finish line of the Blazing Trails 4 Mile Run 4 Autism.

Syosset runners Patty Santella, Melissa Esswein, Pamela Lee and Bert Jablon all blazed a trail at a recent run for a good cause.

The proficient pacers each won an award in the seventh annual Blazing Trails 4 Autism 4 Mile Run, held through the streets of East Meadow on Nov. 22.

Petrina scored as the first Masters (age 40 plus) woman to cross the finish line; Esswein earned second place honors in the women’s 13-15 age group; Lee won the second place award in the women’s 60-64 age group; and Jablon led the way in the 85-89 age group. A total of 644 runners and walkers successfully completed the run, which started and finished at St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church on Newbridge Road in East Meadow.

The entire net proceeds of the run were once again dedicated to the Eden II and Genesis Foundation, which supports children and adults with autism through specialized programs designed to help them achieve the highest possible quality of living throughout their lives.
