More than 10 students from the Farmingdale School District recently participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) annual “One Walk” event to show support for their fellow student Lauren Michels. As team captain of “Lauren’s Hope,” Lauren, who has Type 1 Diabetes, actively organized Farmingdale community members to participate in the event to raise awareness for the disease. Her team successfully raised over $1,000 toward research to find a cure for the disease.
