Transportation is available for students residing more than a ½ mile from school. Information will be mailed in the summer and bus orientation is usually in August.
For transportation to child-care after school you need to complete a form when you register or you may contact the transportation department. The form must be returned fully completed to the transportation department no later than April 1, for the following September. Please call 516-767-5030 if you have any question about transportation.
Note: If you opt for a child-care drop off it must be located in the same district boundary catchment area where you live, or at one of the two district authorized locations—either at the Children’s Center on Main Street or at the JCC program housed in one of our elementary schools in order to be eligible for this type of transportation.
Class placement is decided by keeping the classes as balanced as possible considering gender, age, ethnicity, former nursery school, etc. Placement and school supply letters are mailed to parents in mid-August. If there is a concern about placement (i.e., particular children who should not be placed together) parents should contact the principal in writing in April. Children cannot be placed with friends and a request for a specific teacher is not allowed.
Medical examinations and immunization forms must be completed within one year prior to the starting date of school. The forms should be returned to the school your child will be attending before June 20.
