The Art Guild of Port Washington has resumed classes for children and adults.
An electrical fire at Elderfields Preserve in 2011 during Hurricane Irene forced the art guild to suspend all classes and activities. In September, installation of a fire alarm system allowed The guild to once again open its doors to the public. Elderfields Historic Preserve is located at 200 Port Washington Blvd. (on the right side when traveling south on Port Blvd., after Stonytown Road, just before St. Francis Hospital) 
The following classes and workshops are being offered for children:
• Art Explorations (ages 5-7) Thursdays, 4-5:15 p.m.
• Children’s Art Studio (ages 8-12), Tuesdays, 4-5:30 p.m., Wednesdays,
4-5:30 p.m., or Saturdays, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
• Fashion Drawing and Design for Teens (ages 12-18), Thursdays 4-5:30 p.m.
For adults, there are:
• Watercolor for All Levels with Eileen Neville, Wednesdays 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
• Creative Art Workshop: Explore the Artist Within with Lois Levy, Thursdays, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
All classes will be taught by working artists.
Two-day workshops for adults will also be offered. The first will be Colored Pencil and Ink on Canvas with artist Robert Kogge, Jan. 24-25.
The second is The Art of the Portrait, in pastel and oils with Diana De Santis, PSA, to be held
on April 18-19.
The gallery has also reopened. A juried photography exhibit, “Real [Surreal] Estate, Images of Home,” will open on Jan. 31 with a reception on Feb. 1, from 3-5 p.m. The show is open to all photographers and the prospectus is on the website. A landscape show is planned for March.
