Mike Fernandez Of Farmingdale Wins Award

Mike Fernadez of Farmingdale was recently presented with “Most Improved Runner of the Year” award at the Greater Long Island Running Club’s annual awards ceremony.

Fernandez earned the award by setting eight all-time personal best times in 2014 races, including the last six races he competed in. This was the second year that Fernandez has won the award.

The award was presented at the club’s annual awards ceremony at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library on Dec. 16, before an audience of more than 200 runners and guests.

“Our club is pleased to  honor the achievements of everyone who is an important part of the Long Island running community,” said Greater Long Island Running Club Coach Ed Melnick, who oversees the selection of the “most improved” nominees. “Mike is an exceptional athlete who once again had an amazing year on the roads in 2014.”
