In an effort to make the Town of North Hempstead government even more transparent, Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth announced the town has launched a brand new page on its website, titled “Proposed Local Laws,” that lists all proposed local laws that will be considered at the next town board meeting. “This new addition to our website is another step in providing the public with open and accessible government,” Bosworth said.
Proposed local laws are required by law to be made public at least seven days, exclusive of Sundays, before they are voted on by the North Hempstead town board. To meet that requirement previously, the town posted notices in local newspapers and had copies available at the town clerk’s office; they will continue to do in addition to the online component.
This initiative will work in conjunction with other recent programs that have increased accessibility to government for residents including the live streaming of town board meetings, which can be accessed at www.northhempsteadny.gov.
