Pastels by Christine Di Mauro will be exhibited in the library’s art gallery from February 3 to February 26 during library hours.Pastels_013015A

Di Mauro is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, a member of the Connecticut Pastel Society and is an active 20 year member of the local art group Wet Paints Studio Group in Sayville.

A pastel artist since 1994, Di Mauro currently teaches pastel in her studio, and her subject range is quite diverse; she paints still life, portraits and landscapes. Since 1995, she has entered and exhibited in numerous local juried shows and has won approximately 40 awards ranging from honorable mention to best in show.

Her many accomplishments also include being a finalist in the 2002 still life/floral competition in the Pastel Artist International magazine; her painting was featured in the July/August issue.

Her work has been exhibited in four of The Pastel Society of America’s Annual Juried Shows. She recently won the PSWC award in the 2014 42nd PSA Annual Show Enduring Brilliance for her painting “Why?” Her painting “Why?” was also selected to be included in the Butler Institute of American Art Exhibition held in December 2014 and January 2015 in Youngstown, OH.
