John Neil and Luke Cummings, varsity lacrosse players at Paul D. Schreiber High School, who were selected to represent Team Long Island this past summer, went on to capture the 2014 Brine National Lacrosse Classic and the Brogden Cup.
The Brine National Lacrosse Classic was held in Maryland, where Team Long Island and Team Maryland advanced to the Brine National Championship game on Jan. 2, at the University of Tampa.
Both teams separately represented the United States against Ontario during the annual Brine Brogden Cup International field lacrosse series.
Team Long Island closed out a perfect weekend by defeating Canada, 10-8, in double overtime, to win the Brogden Cup for the USA.
The Brine Brogden Cup is a best out of three game U-19 international field lacrosse series between the top players in North America, dating back to the 1980s.
