Ynoh DeGuzman, Samantha Venus and Elizabeth Brown were the recipients of the Reggie Carter Award on Friday, Jan. 16 at Mineola High School. The recognition was presented prior to the start of the boys basketball game against Seaford High School.
Both Ezra Elliot, boys’ varsity basketball coach and Denise Zunno, girls’ varsity basketball coach, recognized these student athletes for their love of basketball and their commitment to hard work, team leadership and dedication.
Reggie Carter was a star basketball player for St. John’s and played with the New York Knicks. Mineola remembers Carter for everything he brought to the high school as an assistant principal until his death in 1999. Reggie Carter Memorial Basketball Night was dedicated to his memory for the fifteenth year on Jan. 16 at Mineola High School.
