Plainedge High School senior William Loughlin has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program for 2015.

Finalists represent the top .01 percent of high school seniors nationwide who took the PSAT/NMSQT, which has a total of 1.5 million entrants. Loughlin had a perfect 1600 score on his SAT–scoring 800 in the critical reading and math portions of his SAT. In addition to this latest recognition, Loughlin has also been named an AP Scholar with Distinction and is president of the school’s Quiz Bowl team.

Loughlin will be notified in the spring as to whether he will be one of the .001 percent of students who will receive a Merit Scholarship.

The Plainedge School District congratulates William on this impressive achievement and wishes his continued academic success in the future.
