Plandome Haircutters Opens

On Jan. 5, a new salon opened on Plandome Rd. in Manhasset. Plandome Haircutters has opened in the former location of Hollywood Hair Salon. Partners Debbie Lackner and David Mushibayev bought that business and seamlessly transitioned it to their own.
“It was something we wanted to do for a long time,” Lackner said. She and her partner have put their stamp on the location by installing new mirrors, new lighting and a new awning featuring their logo.
Both Lackner and Mushibayev used to work for Joseph’s Haircutter & Barber. They have both been in the area for a long time, Lackner has 32 years of experience under her belt and Mushibayev has 16. Together, they offer their customers services based on the knowledge and skills they have gained over the past decades.
At their former workplace, Lackner and Mushibayev developed a loyal clientele, who will follow them to Plandome Haircutters. Customers of the former establishment will also continue to patronize other longtime staffers who have joined the new business. “She’s been doing my nails for 25 years,” said customer Wendy Magdelkorn of manicurist Wol Lee.
Customers can expect to see the same staff, including Karen, a color specialist, and Michael, a haircutter.
This is the first venture for Lackner and Mushibayev. They chose to
go into business together because of their good working relationship.
“We work very well together. We feed off each other,” said Lackner.
When asked why open this new business now, Lackner and Mushibayev both said, “It was the right time.” They wanted to be able to offer their clients service, and opening their own shop made it possible.
Plandome Haircutters describes itself as a full-service haircutting shop. The term haircutters was chosen to convey they are unisex establishment that welcomes both men and women, as opposed to a salon.
Mushibayev explained what sets them apart from other local businesses.
“There is something for everyone here. We are very family oriented.” Plandome Haircutters offers haircuts for men, women and children—the basics and trendier techniques like razor cuts and point cutting.
The salon offers color and highlights, hot shaves, keratin treatments, manicures, pedicures and waxing, all in a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere.
Plandome Haircutters at 367 Plandome Rd. is open from 8 a.m. to
7 p.m. daily.
