Rich Klein and Lisa Glass, both from Massapequa Park, recently published a photography book called Massapequa: A Pictorial History Through the Eyes of Baby Boomers.”
The two first met in kindergarten and remained friends until their graduation from Berner High School in 1979. After going their separate ways, decades later, Klein and Glass reconnected through Facebook. Glass remained in Massapequa Park and was photographing scenes around the town and Klein was posting his own photos on Facebook. Klein, who moved upstate, reached out to Glass and suggested that they collaborate on a book.
“I am a very nostalgic person, so the idea of the book was to shoot pictures around town and recapture the memories of where we grew up,” said Klein. “We did some research and realized that nothing like this was done before. We tried to recreate that time as much as we could. We started seeing all of these Facebook groups of baby boomers saying, ‘Hey, do your remember this?’ That was the trigger for us and it became our demographic target.”
