Students from the Internship Program, Career and Financial Management class and accounting classes at Plainedge High School became immersed in real-world finances during the school’s Financial Literacy Day.
Through a workshop conducted by the Right Start Foundation, students received an overview of credit awareness and personal financial skills, as well as pamphlets explaining topics such as budgeting, credit bureaus, understanding the advantages and disadvantages of credit cards and banking with checking and savings accounts.
With the information learned, students then met with representatives from various community institutions and went through the mock-process of opening a savings account, buying a car, obtaining car insurance, going food shopping and buying or renting a house or apartment.
