Veterans Group Meeting

Topic: The Alternative Veterans School Tax Exemption. Mathew Rufrano, veterans counselor from the Town of Oyster Bay Veterans Services Division will discuss veterans benefits highlighting the new Alternative Veterans School Tax Exemption. Event open to the public. Free, 11 a.m. at The Life Enrichment Center at Oyster Bay, 45 East Main St., Oyster Bay.

The Bayville Free Library Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. at the library, 34 School St., Bayville.

Movie at the Library

See Birdman at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library. A dark comedy story of an actor famous for portraying an iconic superhero as he struggles to mount a Broadway play. In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career, and himself. Starring: Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Kenny Chin, Zach Galifianakis, Naomi Watts, Jeremy Shamos, Edward Norton. Artist Talk

The Oyster Bay Historical Society’s winter exhibition’s guest curator Xiomáro will give a gallery talk on his photographic collection in The Other Side at 2 p.m. The collection of 29 photographs will be on view until March 29 at the Angela Koenig Center, 20 Summit St., Oyster Bay. Wild about Spring Thyme

Simply Creative Chef Rob Scott will be at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, at 6:30 p.m., making stuffed grilled zucchini with spinach, goat cheese, roasted peppers and basil mustard drizzle; Asian chicken orzo salad with scallions and water chestnuts and chocolate almond strawberry panini. Fee due at registration: $5. Register at the reference desk.

Children’s Craft

At Bayville Free Library, 6 p.m., there will be a St. Patty’s Day Story and Craft For all ages, in the library’s children’s room.

The Baking Coach

At the Bayville Free Library from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Prepare Irish soda bread and take it home to bake in your own oven for St. Patrick’s Day. Maximum 25 patrons. Registration is open now.

Hooks & Needles

The knitting and crocheting group meets every Tuesday from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. at Bayville Free Library, 34 School St., Bayville. Come sit and knit projects of your own or for charity. New members are always welcome.

AARP Smart Driver Course

At Bayville Free Library from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Preregistration in the library required with check or money order $20 AARP members (need AARP card at time of registration) and $25 for nonmembers. Bring driver’s license to class. NYS Discount & Point reduction applies. Limited to 30 people; residents given preference. Registration began March 5 for Bayville residents and begins March 12 for nonresidents.

Daddy’s Boy: A Graduate Thesis

The LIU Post Theatre company presents Daddy’s Boy, a graduate thesis project written and directed by Cristian Avila, from March 20 to 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Rifle Range Theatre (matinee on March 22 at 3 p.m.). Synopsis: Rick legally marries Darren and soon after they find the perfect surrogate, Samantha, to assist with the birth of their son Grayson. They come to the realization that their son is gay. Rick struggles to accept it and it tears the family apart. Samantha steps in to help. Rick must confront the demons of his past and his internalized homophobia or risk losing everything. Christ in the Passover

North Shore Assembly of God, 10:30 a.m. Christ in the Passover shows the link between the ancient Festival of Redemption and Christ as the Lamb of God. Enjoy a visual presentation of how Jesus Christ fulfilled all the requirements of the Passover and enjoy a meal at the church as well.
