James Webster Sherwood III

ObitSherwood_031815AJames Webster Sherwood III (born May 18, 1936) passed away suddenly yet peacefully during his sleep the night after a beautiful Christmas 2014. He had only recently left his home in Plandome last June with his cherished wife, Karyn, who was born and raised on the North Shore, setting their sights west to spend the rest of life together in the great outdoors of Montana and wintering in Arizona near family. He and Karyn were due to move into their new home together only weeks after he passed. His last months on the planet were happy and filled with excitement for this new chapter.
James Sherwood lived his life in magnificent chapters, as he had come to tell the world so vividly about in the many books he penned since he first published in Paris in 1963. His two loves in life were family and the written word. If not at a typewriter or later on a keyboard, he spent his days quietly with family. He was also an avid conversationalist, a talent he shared readily with neighbors here for the past 25 years. You may remember him sharing a story or an observation with a particular pep in his step and flare in his words, his wife at his side and sometimes accompanied by a little dog, Dolce, that he loved dearly. He was a hard-working spirited family man survived by his six children: Veronica, Alexandra, Roxanna, Christopher, Jimmy and George as well as seven grandchildren. Karyn Sherwood is now living on her own  at 14247 E Dove Valley Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85262 lifted by family and the legacy her husband left behind.
