Walk-In Board Game Day
Come to the Plainedge library children’s room from 10 a.m.-noon to play some board games. No registration required for this program.

Spring Into Reading Carnival     
Plainedge families are invited to join in for a day of fun at the Plainedge public library. From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., families will play games, win prizes, make crafts and do other fun activities. Jason Reilly from Green Meadows Farm II will be back with his popular “Frogs, Bugs & Animals” program including his ever popular petting zoo. Come to the Children’s Services Department to pick up your tickets.

Beginning Drawing Classes at Michaels
Come practice the art of drawing at Michael’s, located at 5500 West Sunrise Hwy., Massapequa. No experience needed, just a desire to learn. Classes cost $25 and are conducted by David Martine. Training Class
YES Community Counseling Center was approved by the New York State Department of Education to provide the state’s two-hour certification training for mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect. Class will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the agency’s location at 75 Grand Ave., Massapequa. The cost is $25 per person, payable in advance. AARP Defensive Driving  
Learn about defensive driving and lower your car insurance. The fee is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members. Payment is by check or money order made out to “AARP.” A separate check must be submitted for each person taking the class. Register at the reference desk at either the Bar Harbour or Central Avenue building by calling 516-799-0770. Class takes place in the Bar Harbour auditorium from 9:15 a.m.-4 p.m.

Mahjong
Come to the library from 12-9 p.m. and enjoy a game of Mahjong. No registration required. Meets in the Bar Harbour meeting room.

Summer Reading Volunteers Needed
Reading volunteers are needed for the summer. Looking for Plainedge school district students entering grades 6 and up in September 2015. No previous library volunteer experience necessary. A volunteer orientation for all applicants, however, is required even if you have volunteered for Summer Reading Clubs before. Completed applications are due by Friday, April 17.
