Three players from the Island Trees boys’ basketball team were recently honored at Nassau County Annual Awards Night. Captain Joseph Santoro was the lone junior from Conference A-5 to be named all-county. Santoro averaged just under 15 points per game while also pacing the team in assists and steals with over 6 and 2, respectively. He was also named all-section by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York.
Junior forward, Ryan Daly, led the Bulldogs in scoring this season, finishing with an average of 15.6 points per game while also collecting seven rebounds a contest. He was joined in the frontcourt by Junior Vincent Battaglia, who averaged eight points per game while also contributing as one of the team’s stronger defensive players. Both boys took strong steps forward this season, resulting in all-conference honors for each of them.
