The Town of Oyster Bay is currently seeking individuals who are certified to work as lifeguards for the 2015 summer season.
“Anyone who is qualified to serve as a lifeguard has the ideal opportunity for employment with the Town of Oyster Bay,” said Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto. “There is certainly a sense of pride that goes along with the position, and our lifeguards have the added bonus of working at the town’s beautiful beaches or pools.”
Supervisor Venditto did, however, point out that with this great position comes great responsibility. “It is a role that is meant for those who are experienced swimmers and fully certified,” he said. “All of our lifeguards need to be highly responsible, motivated and up for the challenge of protecting the lives and safety of swimmers and beach attendees.”
Supervisor Venditto noted that any interested applicants must possess a current Nassau County Department of Health Lifeguard Certification Card and a current CPR/AED Certification Card. Qualified applicants may apply in person at the Town of Oyster Bay Parks Department Human Resources Office, located in Town Hall South (977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa).
For more information, call the Department of Parks Aquatics Office at 516-797-4131.
“Lifeguards provide an invaluable service to the community,” Supervisor Venditto said. “Having a summer job as a lifeguard helps build confidence, self-esteem, and friendships.
Anyone who has worked as a lifeguard before knows that it is a rewarding and exciting experience as well as a great way to spend the summer.”
