Modern Man to Play Our Times Coffeehouse

On Friday evening, April 17, satirical trio Modern Man, featuring Rob Carlson, David Buskin and George Wurzbach, will be cranking up the satire at Our Times Coffeehouse. These celebrated singers and songwriters bring humor to themes ranging from God to Godzilla, from manliness to cluelessness and from ESPN to the FBI.

In 1998, Rob Carlson was performing at New York’s legendary Bottom Line for an album of comedy songwriters when he met songwriter David Buskin, who introduced him to George Wurzbach. The three became Modern Men, entertaining audiences up and down the East Coast until 2010. They won Back Stage Magazine’s Bistro Award in 2002 for Best Musical Comedy and the 2008 New York Nightlife Award for best comedy group in New York. This cross between Crosby, Stills & Nash and the Marx Brothers reunited in 2014 to bring back their hilarious and inventive musical entertainment. Spike Barkin, the producer of the Roots of American Music Festival, said, “Modern Man is without question the cleverest, funniest, most versatile group that I have heard in years.”

Doors open at 7:15 p.m. that evening for ticket sales. The suggested donations are $15 adults and $10 students with ID; sorry, no pre-sales are available. Our Times Coffeehouse is in the Ethical Humanist Society building, 38 Old Country Rd., two miles west of Meadowbrook Parkway next to the blue water tower.
