Under the direction of Dr. David Friedman and Matthew Zausin, MacArthur High School science research sophomores Hope Blanc, Casey Butcher, Kristen DiCicco, Madison Kleppan-Mella and Emily Thomas were team winners of the Presentation Award in the 2015 North Shore Long Island Jewish Feinstein Institute Medical Marvels Competition. Each student will receive a $300 scholarship.
The students presented a paper, poster and oral presentation on the development of a mobile application for student stress management. The freshman team of Danica Deutsch, Hannah Grunfeld, Maggie Liu and Helen Zhang also competed.
During the Medical Marvels Conference, competitors submitted and presented a paper based on the 2015 topic of adolescent mental health. They also learned more about stress management and current research in the adolescent health research field by professionals from the Feinstein Institute and Zucker Hillside Hospital.
