Plandome Road was the location with film crews arriving early Monday morning, May 4 for the taping of a show. The Town of North Hempstead Town Hall was transformed into Southampton Town Hall for scenes from the television series Royal Pains.
The medical show Royal Pains centers on a young emergency room doctor who, after being wrongly blamed for a patient’s death, moves to the Hamptons and becomes the reluctant “doctor for hire” to the rich and famous. When the attractive administrator of the local hospital asks him to treat the town’s less fortunate, he finds himself walking the line between doing well for himself and doing good for others. The series launched in 2009 features Mark Feuerstein as Hank Larson and Paulo Costanzo as his business partner Evan Lawson and airs on USA network. The series has been quite successful and has had more than 3.4 million viewers per episode. With such viewership, the show has been renewed for season seven as well as season eight with the launch of season seven on June 2.
A Southampton police car was staged in front of North Hempstead town hall and signs were changed outside the building. Filming was done inside and outside town hall and across the street at Mary Jane Davies Park and in the gazebo on Plandome Road in Manhasset.
