Andy Club Spring Carnival

The Andy Fund will hold its spring carnival from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Garden City High School practice fields. Students in pre-K through fifth grades are welcome to attend. There is a $10 suggested donation, and all proceeds will be donated to Child Life at Cohen’s Children’s Hospital at LIJ. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Girls Who Code Club

The Girls Who Code Club will offer computer science education and technical skill development to girls in sixth through 12th grade. The club will meet on Saturday afternoons from 2 to 4:45 p.m. in the computer lab on the lower level of the library, located at 60 Seventh St. Meetings will continue on May 30 and June 6 and 13. Each lesson will build upon the previous lesson so attendance at each meeting is strongly encouraged. The curriculum includes monthly project-based activities and the opportunity to build real-world software including mobile apps and games. No prior experience in coding or programming is necessary. The girls will learn basic coding and programming including variables, loops and conditionals. There is no cost to participate in the club but the club size is limited to the first 20 girls who register. Please register at www.gardencitypl.org. Mexican Metal Folk Art

In Mexico, metal tooling, also known as repujado, is the process of working a rounded tool on the back side of soft metal to create a raised surface. Artisans typically use tin to create an array of beautiful items such as framed mirrors. Attendees are invited to create their own piece of metal folk art inspired by Mexican culture. From 2 to 2:45 p.m. Ages: 5 and up. Fee: $3 with museum admission ($2 LICM members). The Long Island Children’s Museum is located at 11 Davis Ave. in Garden City. Marvelous Movie Matinée

A screening of the 1961 musical West Side Story starring Natalie Wood, Rita Moreno, Richard Beymer and Russ Tamblyn will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Garden City Public Library.
