A four-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool during a backyard barbeque in Shirley over the weekend, Suffolk County police said.
Justin McConville was with his mother at his mother’s friend’s Alcolade Drive East home when the host found the boy at the bottom of their 4-foot, above-ground pool at 7:11 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Witnesses pulled the victim from the pool, called 911 and performed CPR until an ambulance arrived, police said.
The child was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.
