Demetrius Blackwell, 35, who was accused of shooting NYPD Detective Brian Moore last month has been indicted on first-degree murder and 11 charges. Queens District Attorney Richard Brown announced the indictment on Thursday, June 11.
The Massapequa hero, 25, died two days after being shot in the head while approaching and questioning Blackwell—who has been in prison since his arrest on May 3—in Queens Village.
The results of the grand jury were clear, although Blackwell’s attorney has said his client denies the charges, which span from several counts of murder, petit larceny, criminal possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. The first-degree murder charge carries a penalty of life in prison without possible parole.
