The place to be on Thursday, Sept. 24, was Munsey Park Elementary School field where the Manhasset Rotary Club held the 15th Annual Manhasset Children’s Circus. This was a new location for the Children’s Circus from prior years. The day was glorious and the kids adorable. Mothers, fathers, grandparents and nannies arrived to find camel rides, popcorn, face painting, a bouncy castle, as well as dozens of handouts provided by local businesses.
The excitement of the circus was palpable as Ringmaster Robby Donno and the many members of the Manhasset Rotary worked their magic that included the main attraction, the Zerbini Circus.
The Manhasset Rotary put together this special event for the children of Manhasset after the tragedy of September 11, 2001. It was an absolute success and has been entertaining the children of Manhasset ever since.
The circus was free for children grade six and under. There were two shows, one at 4:45 p.m. and another at 6:45 p.m. The circus is made possible mostly by the generosity of its many sponsors and donors.
To get involved with the Manhasset Rotary call Robby Donno at 516-707-8473 or Esther Miller at 516-510-9928 or join them at their regular meetings at Pearl East restaurant on Monday’s at 5 p.m.
