Christ Episcopal Church Manhasset and the Community Reformed Church will jointly host its Annual Blessing of the Animals, in commemoration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, on Sunday, October 4, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. in the Churchyard adjacent to both churches, weather permitting. Alternatively, the Blessing will occur in Christ Church. All are invited to attend, regardless of religious affiliation.
The Churches request that dogs be on leashes and that other pets, as cats, birds, etc. be brought in appropriate crates or containers. Each pet will be blessed individually by Christ Church Rector Reverend David Sibley and Community Reformed Church Pastor The Reverend Dr. Steven D. Pierce.
Father Sibley stated, “We recognize how important our family pets are and how much we all love them. As all God’s creatures, they deserve to be recognized and blessed in His name.” Reverend Pierce echoed Father Sibley’s sentiment, noting how all his parishioners and their families look forward to having their pets given God’s blessings each year.
