A portion of Shore Road will be closed off to traffic in front of Chabad, 80 Shore Rd., during the Simchat Torah celebration Monday night, for a joyful holiday celebration with dancing in the street. Bring the whole family to this celebration of Jewish pride and joy.
Rabbi Shalom M. Paltiel said, “My appreciation and gratitude to the Port Washington Police Department for their support and assistance which made this possible.”
Here is the schedule of the Simchat Torah celebration:
Monday, Oct. 5
6 p.m.: Mincha – afternoon service
6:30 p.m.: Maariv – evening services
7 p.m.: Dancing “Hakafot” in celebration of Simchat Torah
“Like last year, my son Berel will lead the program which will be family oriented and will involve the children through special activities and missions, keeping them engaged and interested throughout the event,” said Rabbi Paltiel.
7:30 p.m.: Dancing will spill out onto Shore Road, bringing Simchat Torah to the entire community
7:45 p.m.: Kiddush & Finger-food dinner for the entire family – in the social hall
This will be followed by additional Hakafot and dancing.
The schedule moves quickly so that young families can participate and get their kids home at a decent hour.
“Chag someach! In the spirit of Hakhel! I look forward to seeing you!” said Rabbi Paltiel.
Simchat Torah morning services take place on Tuesday, Oct., 6, at 9:30 a.m., including the completion of the Torah reading cycle.
