Gallery Of Fine Art Coming To Secondary School

Friday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m. marked the Grand Opening of the Gallery of Fine Art at Manhasset Secondary School.

The gallery is the brainchild of Advanced Placement Art teacher Michael Sansone, who has long held a vision of such a gallery as a cultural center focused on the visual arts. He worked with district administrators to secure a space which has been renovated into a gallery capable of exhibiting works of art of the highest quality. Through development of the gallery, students will engage in all aspects of the gallery experience, such as development of curatorial concepts, exhibit design, publicity and all other business aspects of art. Students will not only work directly with contemporary artists, but will also curate exhibits focused on significant elements of art history.

The gallery is made possible in part through generous donations by the Manhasset School Community Association, the Tower High School Yearbook Club, the Classes of 1961, 1962 and 2012, and Robert Anastasia.
