A 64-year-old Miller Place man was killed when he crashed his pickup truck in Mount Sinai over Columbus Day weekend.

Suffolk County police said Reinhold Schierwagen of was driving a Ford F150 eastbound on North Country Road when his vehicle struck a guardrail and shrubs at 6:55 p.m. Friday.

The victim was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he later died.

Sixth Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call them at 631-854-8652.
