AOW: Matt Kosowski

Matt Kosowski
Matt Kosowski

Matt Kosowski is the only returning two-way starter from last year’s county finalist Mustangs football team. He was a running back and outside linebacker on last year’s squad.

This year, he has taken over as the teams’ quarterback. Anyone that knows football can understand how difficult it is to go from being a strong, aggressive linebacker one minute only to have to move to the other side of the ball and become the calm clear thinking signal-caller the next. Kosowski has done a great job doing just that.

Even though the Mustangs are very young and inexperienced, he has guided the team to a 3-2 record.

In doing that, Kosowski has gained 600-yards rushing scoring six touchdowns while passing for three scores in only four games. He is also the team’s best defensive player.

Kosowski, who is also a varsity baseball player, might be the school hardest worker in the weight room. He continues his workouts all year round even when playing on multiple teams.

That work ethic has proven to be the key to Kosowski’s success, as his strength and power are his strongest attributes. In addition to his athletic prowess he excels in the classroom.

As a senior at Mineola, Kosowski has an overall academic average of 90 and has found the time to balance the demands of all his activities and be one of our most respectful, dedicated and well rounded student athletes.
