Tara Maloney is the Mineola girls volleyball team’s co-captain, starting outside hitter and this week’s Athlete of the Week. She has been playing on the varsity team since she was a freshman. She leads the team in kills per game, averaging approximately 26 kills per match.
Maloney also averages four serving aces per match. She serves at the team’s most reliable hitter and often is the go-to hitter when Mineola is looking to end a rally.
When it comes to energy and enthusiasm, Maloney sets the bar high. The team often looks to her to find encouragement and leadership.
Maloney also stands out as a student as she maintains a 90 average while being part of several student activities and an outstanding member of the Physical Education Leadership program.
