The Manhasset/Great Neck Head Start program, located in the Hagedorn Community Center on High Street in Manhasset, is looking for volunteers to work in the classrooms with the children under the supervision of the teaching staff.
Head Start is a federally supported preschool program for children from economically disadvantaged families. The program is open from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Throughout the day children have opportunities to work individually and in small groups as they learn new concepts, experiment with materials, explore their environment, develop language, thinking and problem solving skills and work towards mastering the skills they will need for success in kindergarten.
If you enjoy spending time with young children, would like to share your own hobbies and interests and are looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity, the Head Start program is for you.
