On Sunday, Nov. 22, at 4 p.m., Temple Sinai of Roslyn will host a light classical concert.
The Russian Trio will perform a wide-ranging repertoire, including colorful costumes, surprising combinations of unusual instruments and use of authentic Russian percussions.
The Russian Trio consists of unique professional musicians: Tamara Volskaya, Anatoliy Trofimov and Leonid Bruk.
Tamara Volskaya is one of the leading contemporary and versatile performers on the domra (a four stringed plucked instrument resembling the Italian mandolin, played with a pick and tuned as a violin). She is a Merited Artist of Russia, a Laureate of the USSR competition, and a Professor at the Mussorgsky Ural State Conservatory of Yekaterinburg, Russia. Volskaya’s flawless technical ability and expressive performances have stunned audiences around the world from Japan to Europe and America.
Anatoly Trofimov is a bayan (button accordion) virtuoso, and music teacher. One of the greatest bayan accompanists in the world, Anatoly creates a serene yet powerful musical atmosphere in each of his performances.
Leonid Bruk is a master of the balalaika, a three-stringed Russian folk instrument with a triangular body strummed only with fingers. His enthusiastic performance on bass-balalaika adds vigor and sparkle to the trio’s program.
In addition to an afternoon of spectacular music, there will be a wine and cheese reception immediately following the concert. This concert is free for Temple Sinai congregants; $18 for non-members.
