Plandome Heights resident David Paterson was sworn in as Manhasset Park District Commissioner by the Honorable Robert Morici on Monday, Jan. 4, for a term of three years. Paterson joins Commissioners Mark Sauvigne and Kenneth Weigand as they continue to create additional parking for patrons, employees and commuters, while tackling illegal parking lots in the Manhasset community.
The commissioners have announced that as of Tuesday, March 1, the Manhasset Park District will be adding 19 commuter spaces to the Hillside Avenue Parking Lot and are in discussions with The Town of North Hempstead regarding three major Manhasset Park District proposals that would create additional parking for commuters, merchants and shoppers, as well as enforcing the one-hour parking rules along Plandome Road.
The Manhasset Park District plans to hold a public “Parking Symposium” in the spring at the Manhasset Library to discuss these proposals and future plans for the district to address parking issues within the downtown Manhasset area.
The Manhasset Park District holds regularly scheduled meetings twice a month. The next meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 25. The meeting dates are posted on the website www.manhassetparkdistrict.org and posted at the Manhasset Park District office. Meetings start at 6:15 p.m. at 62 Manhasset Ave. in Manhasset. For more information you can call the district office at 516-627-7711. The office is open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
