The Art Guild Calls For Artists

The Art Guild invites all artists to submit artwork for consideration for “Travels and Destinations: Near and Far,” a juried competition and exhibition on view from March 5 to April 3. Landscapes, still lifes and figurative images tell the story of travels both real and imagined. Submission deadline is midnight on Feb. 13.

Artsubmission021016AThe Juror-of-Awards is Paul David Elsen. Elsen went to The High School of Art & Design, where he studied drawing and painting under the late Irwin “Greeny” Greenberg and the noted portrait painter and illustrator Max Ginsburg. In 2009, after a number of career moves unrelated to art, he turned his attentions back to painting and drawing. He has since studied with artists as diverse as Paul Bachem, Howard Rose, Marc Josloff and Rob Silverman. He has exhibited extensively on Long Island.

All artists, 18 years and older (high school students ages 14 to 18 years may enter in the student category), are invited to submit up to three artworks for consideration.

The exhibit will be on view from Saturday, March 5, through Sunday, April 3. Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m or by appointment. An Artists’ Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 6, from 3 to 5 p.m.

The Guild also holds classes for children and adults. The Theory of Oil Painting Studio with Paul Bachem (Wednesday evenings beginning Feb. 24, 7 to 10 p.m.) has just been added. There is still room in the upcoming workshop, Fast, Loose and Bold with Patti Mollica on Feb. 13 to 14.

The Art Guild is located at Elderfields Preserve, 200 Port Washington Blvd. For more information, call 516-304-5797, and for the registration form or to register online, go to www.theartguild.org.
