The Junior Firefighters of the Great Neck Alert Fire Company recently held their annual dinner and 2016 officer elections. Ryan Motchkavitz was sworn in as the 35th captain, following in the footsteps of his father, John, who was the company’s third Juniors captain in 1984. Prior to becoming captain, Ryan served as financial secretary in 2014 and second lieutenant in 2015.

Two juniors were honored for their hard work, dedication and extraordinary service to the Alert Junior Firefighters program. A plaque was presented to outgoing Captain Conner Campbell and a special award was given to outgoing First Lieutenant Julia Rietbroek. Campbell joined the Alert Juniors in 2011 and, prior to becoming captain in 2015, served one year as first lieutenant and one year as financial secretary. Campbell’s four older siblings all served as captain when they were members of the Juniors program. Rietbroek joined the Juniors in 2011 and first served as recording secretary in 2014 before becoming first lieutenant in 2015.
