Bellerose Man Fatally Hit by Car

A 61-year-old Bellerose man was fatally hit by a car while he was crossing a road in Valley Stream on Monday afternoon.

Nassau County police said the pedestrian was walking across Merrick Road when he was hit by an eastbound 2002 Audi Allroad near the corner of Green Street shortly after 12 p.m.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not immediately available.

Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation, which is deemed non-criminal, and the 75-year-old driver was not charged.
