Board of Education Meeting
The Massapequa School District board of education meeting will focus on all curriculum and instruction programs, as well as instructional support areas such as social work and psychology. It will take place in Massapequa High School’s Baldwin Auditorium, beginning at 8 p.m.

Seaford High School Drama Production for Senior Citizens
Seaford High School students will host a drama production for senior citizens in the high school auditorium at 4 p.m.

Friday, March 4
The Little Mermaid
Seaford High School students will host a production of The Little Mermaid. Ticket prices for Friday and Saturday showings at 7:30 p.m. are as follows: Presale for adults is $10 and students are $8. At door for adults is $12 and for students is $10. Also showing on Mar. 5 at 2 p.m.

Saturday, March 5
Adopt-A-Battalion Soldier’s Drive
Come help put care packages together for troops overseas. Volunteers sort, pack and ship items to send to the troops. Looking for personal care items, seasonings and hot sauces and items other than candy. From 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Island Knight of Columbus Council, 2 Eastgate Rd., Massapequa Park.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fundraiser
Come to Johnny McGorey’s where volunteers will shave their heads to help Conquer Kids’ Cancer. The event begins at 1 p.m. with head shavings starting at 2 p.m. This year’s event will honor Massapequa residents, 6-year-old Maya Annunziato who has been battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and 10-year-old Colin Conaty, who was diagnosed with an ependyoma, but has been in remission for the past seven years. 25th Anniversary Bethpage St. Patrick’s Parade
Come to downtown Bethpage at 1 p.m. for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Festivities begin at the 1 p.m. mass at St. Martin of Tours Church. The parade steps off in front of St. Martin’s at 2 p.m. Grand Marshal Katherine Brenton, friends and visiting dignitaries will join the color guard, pipe bands and marching units to lead the parade through downtown Bethpage. Featured in this year’s parade are the Nassau Firefighters Pipes & Drums, Massapequa’s Tara Band, the American Celtic Pipe Band, and the FDNY Emerald Society Pipes & Drums, F.R.E.E.-the Drum Line,. a percussion marching band of special-needs individuals, along with veterans’ groups, historic re-enactment groups, AOH members, fire departments, scouts and the perennial favorite—the K-9 Brigade. The parade route begins on Central Avenue in Bethpage, down Stewart Avenue and returning on Broadway to the Showmobile.

Nina Et cetera “Hotter than a Pepper Sprout: America’s Music”
Come to the Bar Harbour auditorium and enjoy a program that focuses on traditional American music by Johnny Cash, Elvis, The Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Peggy Lee and more. From 1 to 3 p.m.

Seaford Historical Society Meeting on Historical Markers
The Seaford Historical Society will hold a meeting at the museum on Waverly Avenue at 7 p.m. Presenter George Kirchmann of the Massapequa Historical Society will discuss historical markers.

Plainedge Public Library P.A.R.P. Pizza Party
For Plainedge School District students in grades K-5 only. Come celebrate P.A.R.P. with pizza, games, activities and a craft. Must register. From 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. in the community room. Include your phone number and email address when registering.

Massapequa Park Village Blood Drive
Come down to Village Hall to donate blood from 2 to 8 p.m. All blood types are needed, especially O positive and O negative. Refreshments will be provided. Village Hall is located at 151 Front St., Massapequa Park. Must be between 17 and 75 years old, 16 with parental permission and 76 or older with a doctor’s note. Must also weigh at least 110 pounds and not have donated within the last 56 days. Through Aug. 29.

The Plainedge Public Library is looking for Plainedge School District volunteers in grades six and up for children’s crafts/activities during the 2015-16 school year. All applicants are accepted into a pool of eligible volunteers who will be called upon from time to time during the year. Application packets are now available.
