Renée and I have been residents of East Hills since 1993. We first moved here because we heard the schools were top notch. Little did we know we’d be living in one of the finest villages on Long Island.
The reason why this is a great place to live, and why our homes retain their value better than surrounding communities is, in large part, due to the high caliber of leadership we receive from our East Hills elected officials. Two of them are up for re-election this March 15, Deputy Mayor Manny Zuckerman and Trustee Clara Pomerantz.
Manny’s demeanor is calm and his work ethic is professional. Whether the job requires attention to capital improvements, like our award-winning park, or response to crisis, like Hurricane Sandy, Manny has proven himself a steadfast advocate for our community’s best interests. Recently, Manny has taken the lead in making sure we are safe by spearheading the Security Commission, which finds ways to further prevent crime in East Hills.
Clara has been an East Hills trustee for almost six years. She has shown leadership in the village through special events and programs such as Environmental Day, Power Day, Park Celebrations, Friends for Friends (helping those with special needs) and Neighbors for Neighbors (helping residents in time of need). These programs are vital to many residents in our community and Clara has worked tirelessly to advocate for all of us. She is also one of the kindest and most sincere people we’ve ever met, qualities rarely used to describe elected officials.
While anyone has a right to run for office, we believe we will all be best served by re-electing Manny and Clara. Their track records are proven, and the particular skills and strengths they bring to their roles add tremendous value to our village. Please join Renée and I, and vote for them in the upcoming March 15 village elections.
