Seaford Historical Society Meeting on Historical MarkersMassCal_030916A
The Seaford Historical Society will hold a meeting at the museum on Waverly Avenue at 7 p.m. Presenter George Kirchmann of the Massapequa Historical Society will discuss historical markers.

Plainedge Public Library P.A.R.P. Pizza Party
For Plainedge School District students in grades K-5 only. Come celebrate P.A.R.P. with pizza, games, activities and a craft. Must register. From 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. in the community room. Include your phone number and email address when registering.

Adopt-A-Battalion Soldier’s Drive
Come help put care packages together for troops overseas. Volunteers sort, pack and ship items to send to the troops. Looking for personal care items, seasonings and hot sauces and items other than candy. From 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Island Knight of Columbus Council, 2 Eastgate Rd., Massapequa Park.

Polar Bear Plunge
The Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County Inc. (CP Nassau) will host the 12th annual Polar Bear Plunge fundraiser off the chilly waters off of the Town of Oyster Bay Bay’s Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park, Beach and Marina in Oyster Bay. Scrabble
Come in and enjoy a game of Scrabble from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Bar Harbour meeting room.

Board of Trustees Meeting
The Massapequa Public Library will hold its monthly board meeting at 7:45 p.m. at 40 Harbor Lane, Massapequa Park.

The Massapequa Park Village election will take place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Village Hall, located at 151 Front St., Massapequa Park.

Irish Soda Bread      
Join Chef Rob Scott as you make your own loaf of Irish Soda Bread, ready to take home and bake. Then enjoy some delicious Irish bananas for dessert. Lecture
The Bar Harbor library will host a lecture by Ira Epstein titled “Comedy Duos-The Smothers Brothers,” at 2 p.m. The lecture will explore their unique brand of humor through the use of numerous audio and visual clips.

Thursday, March 17
St. Patrick’s Day
Enjoy a pint and some corned beef and cabbage at your local Irish pub.

Board of Education Meeting
The third board of education meeting for Massapequa Public Schools meeting will discuss limits under the New York State property tax cap, state aid and other information released from the governor’s executive budget that may impact the proposed school budget. The meeting will be held in Massapequa High School’s Baldwin Auditorium, beginning at 8 p.m.

Saturday, March 19
Spring Fair
St. William the Abbot’s 16th annual spring fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Msgr. Thomas G. Leavy Auditorium at the St. William the Abbot School, located at 2001 Jackson Ave., Seaford. Easter plants, raffle baskets, a 50/50, baked goods, hot and cold food and pictures with the Easter Bunny will also be available. For more information, contact Gail Tomczyk at 516-795-4542.

Massapequa Park Village Blood Drive
Come down to Village Hall to donate blood from 2 to 8 p.m. All blood types are needed, especially O positive and O negative. Refreshments will be provided. Village Hall is located at 151 Front St., Massapequa Park. Must be between 17 and 75 years old, 16 with parental permission and 76 or older with a doctor’s note. Must also weigh at least 110 pounds and not have donated within the last 56 days. Through Aug. 29.

Carnival Volunteers Needed
Volunteer applications for Plainedge School District students in grades five and up are still available in the children’s department for the library’s Spring Into Reading Carnival scheduled for Wednesday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Carnival volunteer spots are filled on a first come, first serve basis.
